YEREVAN — Armenia’s State Revenue Committee (SRC) announced that customs officials have uncovered multiple cases involving the illegal transportation of undeclared cash across the country’s border, totaling €956,400.
According to the SRC, officers from the “Zvartnots and Erebuni” Passenger Customs Control Division identified the funds during customs inspections at Zvartnots International Airport.
During preliminary X-ray screening of luggage from a Dortmund-Yerevan flight, customs officers became suspicious of certain bags. Two passengers who had independently chosen the “Green Channel” customs procedure were escorted to the “Red Channel” inspection area after crossing the Green Channel exit line.
As a result of the inspection, customs officers discovered €578,050 in undeclared cash in the luggage of Armenian citizen M.N.
During the same operation, officials also inspected the luggage of S.N., a citizen of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and found an additional €378,350 in undeclared cash that had been transported into Armenia by air.
Officials from the Electronic Commerce and Air Transport Administration and the Anti-Smuggling Department prepared the necessary reports, and further legal proceedings are underway.
The State Revenue Committee urged all travelers crossing Armenia’s borders to familiarize themselves with customs regulations and comply with legal reporting requirements to ensure transparent and lawful customs procedures.
