YEREVAN — Following the decision of the Central Election Commission, law enforcement officers searched businesses belonging to Gagik Tsarukyan.

Early on July 6, law enforcement officers searched the home of Prosperous Armenia Party leader Gagik Tsarukyan, as well as nearly all businesses owned by him, PAP spokesperson Iveta Tonoyan told reporters.

“We are talking about more than a dozen businesses, including the Araratcement plant, the Yerevan Brandy-Wine-Vodka Factory, and others,” Tonoyan said.

A CivilNet correspondent reported that at 8 a.m., law enforcement officers also began searching Tsarukyan’s Multi Wellness fitness center, asking customers to leave the gym.

On June 25, the Prosecutor General’s Office submitted a motion to the Central Election Commission seeking consent to strip Prosperous Armenia Party leader Gagik Tsarukyan of immunity and initiate criminal prosecution against him.

The CEC had stated that the motion would be examined after the Constitutional Court issued its decision.

Gagik Tsarukyan, the leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, has been detained. His lawyer, Yerem Sargsyan, told reporters on July 6 that a motion seeking his pretrial detention will soon be submitted to the court.
