Armenia and India Discuss Bilateral Defense Cooperation
NEW DELHI — On August 4, Armenian Ambassador Vahagn Afyan met with Amit Telang, the newly appointed joint secretary for international cooperation at India’s Ministry of Defense.
Colonel Arkadi Tonoyan, Armenia’s military attaché in India, also attended the meeting.
The officials discussed defense cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the fields of military industry and military education. They also addressed organizational matters related to upcoming reciprocal visits.
The parties discussed maintaining active bilateral contacts, expanding cooperation and deepening relations of a strategic nature.
At the end of 2025, Armenia and India signed a cooperation program for 2026. The program includes high-level and expert visits, military education, military-technical cooperation, combat training and exercises, exchanges of experience and cooperation in several other fields.
